The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Access to Justice, Security and Human Rights Strengthening Program support to the Joint UN Plan on AIDS aims to strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations to provide legal aid services to survivors of SGBV and persons living with HIV/AIDS.

Early Grant Information for NGOs

The Program places emphasis on ensuring that such vulnerable groups can receive fair and speedy disputes resolution to claim their rights, increase their safety and security and in turn fully recover from their grievances.

Objectives

CSOs are requested to submit their proposals as potential grant implementers. Applications must include all locations: Western, Central and Eastern Equatoria.
The main objective of the grant is to identify civil society organizations (CSOs), national non-governmental organizations (NNG0s) or community-based organizations (CB0s) with established Justice and Confidence Centers and operational presence and capacities in the locations mentioned to provide:
Legal representation;
Legal advice/counseling and trauma healing support;
Legal awareness including human rights awareness.
In this regard, the Program is seeking a competent and reputable civil society organization, national non-governmental organization or community-based organization to establish a Justice and Confidence Center (JCC) Western, Central and Eastern Equatoria to provide the following services for survivors of SGBV and persons living with HIV/AIDS:
Provide legal representation for survivors of SGBV and persons living with HIV/AIDS including women, girls, men and boys.
Provide legal advice/counselling, trauma healing support to survivors of SGBV and persons living with HIV/AIDS including women, girls, men and boys.
Provide legal awareness including human rights awareness to vulnerable groups including survivors of SGBV and persons living with HIV/AIDS in communities.

The CSO/NNGO/CBO must meet the following criteria to be eligible for selection:

Be legally registered as CSO/NNGO/CBO with the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs and in possession of a valid registration certificate.
Mandate and founding document should be in line with the activities for which the fund is being sought.
Have an established office and experience in implementing similar/related activities.

Consistency with JCC’s objectives: The proposal should address issues relating to justice and rule of law.
Likelihood of success and project feasibility/sustainability: The proposal should clearly demonstrate sustainability after the grant period and in the absence of external funding.
Capacity of the organization to implement the project (institutional, financial): The CSO/NNGO/CBO should demonstrate the ability to effectively manage grant funds as well as the institutional capacity (equipment, facilities, competence and experience of personnel, and past record of managing such projects) necessary for project implementation.
The comprehensiveness of the project description – product, plan and budget: The proposal should clearly define its strategy for implementation detailing a step-by-step project plan and itemized budget, target groups, and clear timelines for activity duration.
Competence of the organization’s staff: Previous experience in related fields, availability of skills and training.
