Group Legal Advisor (Investment / Banking / Contract Law / Admitted Attorney) – Johannesburg

Job Description:

A leading financial services company is currently in search of a Legal Advisor to be responsible for legal support services and ensure the accurate management of legal documentation, risk identification and legal advisory services as required.

Responsibilities:

Ensuring compliance with all statutory and legal requirements pertaining to documentation

Draft and review legal documentation in terms of contracts, agreements and policies

Assess implications of contracts and agreements

Provide contract management services

Assist in the effective resolution of any legal issues providing a strategic corporate approach

Interpret legislation and regulatory frameworks

Provide advisory services with regards to addressing risk factors

Identify risks of a legal nature and establish remediation tactics

Reach terms for documentation as well as draft and review documentation pertaining to various transactions.

Provide legal advice to various areas of the business within the group

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

LLB or similar qualification

Admitted Attorney (not negotiable)

3 – 5 years post articles experience with solid exposure to contract drafting and negotiation

A financial qualification would be advantageous

Must be working within financial services or a recognized law firm

Legal understanding within financial services and specifically investment banking

Africa experience would be highly advantageous

Experience advising on transactions including corporate finance deals and mergers and acquisitions and the legal implications
