UNDRR: Apply for Disaster Prevention Grants in Korea

The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) is inviting not profit-making organisations to submit grant proposals that focus on the project “DRR Education for Korean Schools through the School Safety Programme Towards a Culture of Disaster Prevention in Korea”.

The purpose of this grant is to contribute to the work of UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction Office in Northeast Asia facilitated in cooperation with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and Incheon Metropolitan City by scaling up the School Safety Programme: Towards a Culture of Disaster Prevention in Korea through the collaboration with a local implementing partner.

It aims to raise the level of awareness and understanding of disaster risk reduction for children and develop capacity of the implementing partner to deliver the programme in effective and sustainable manner on behalf of UNDRR through training of instructors, teachers, students, and experience sharing between students facing different risks and different measures for prevention and preparedness. It also aims to share experience within the NEA region, targeting Mongolia.

Activities
Training of Trainers
Enhancement of the tools for the current School Safety Programme and development of experience-sharing training module through expert group
Training of Students in Korea
Implementation of DRR training with focus on experience-sharing for students in different areas
Introduction of and implementation of the School Safety Programme in Mongolia Organization of one in-person TOT with the Institute of Teachers’ Professional Development in Mongolia (ITPD) in June
Survey and Meeting
Funding Information
The maximum amount requested from UNDRR for the implementation of this project cannot exceed 140,250 USD.
The duration of the proposed project cannot exceed 10 months.
Criteria
Participating students and teachers will better understand disaster risk reduction and how to become more resilient to disasters, including students with special education needs and those with the limited access to DRR education.
Safety education instructors of the implementing partner will develop their capacity to become DRR educators to continue to deliver the programme in sustainable and coherent manner.
Furthermore, Korean experience will be shared with Mongolia, and the capacity of teachers and students in Mongolia built through training of teachers and students.
