About MAG in Africa:

MAG supports the development of countries emerging from conflict by locating and destroying remnants of war, so that men and women can raise their families and subsist in a safe and secure environment, without fear of death or bodily harm. One of the main areas of concern for MAG programs across Africa is Physical Security and Stockpile Management (PSSM) and Small Arms and Light Weapons Management (AMD), working with the responsible national authorities. defense and security, to ensure the safe management of storage and the destruction of weapons and ammunition.  About the position:

Our field technical managers are at the heart of our work. They actively manage and lead our national staff teams to carry out our rescue work safely. PSSM / AMD Field Technical Officers deal regularly with national and local defense and security authorities, including the police and the military, on the management of weapons and ammunition stockpiles. Operations focused on construction, arsenal design and management, weapons management, SALW needs assessment and mass demolition. They must be ready to lead from the beginning, responsible for the day-to-day management of our technical interventions and be involved in all aspects of MAG’s project work, including administration, finance, equipment procurement, reports and planning. Roles can often be distant, work in difficult contexts, far from the comforts of home, but the impact of work on the lives of local communities is very real and rewarding. This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in the day-to-day work of MAG’s rescue work.

 Candidate profile:

Ideally, you must be qualified and experienced in weapons management and destruction, as well as prior professional experience in a similar humanitarian or commercial organization. However, we will also review applications that demonstrate the necessary practical and technical experience in the military sector, a high degree of interest and the desire to acquire the skills required to perform the work of weapons management and destruction. Where appropriate, MAG will provide hands-on training in all areas of weapons management and destruction.

Successful candidates will also need excellent diplomatic and contact skills to build effective relationships with local authorities and security forces. All candidates must be prepared for the challenges of working in a developing country and working as a member of an adaptable and engaged team to save lives in the communities that need it most. Perfect command of French is required for this position.
