Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)
Main Purpose of Job
To carry out electrical installation, inspect, isolate, troubleshoot and repair electrical malfunctions using various test instruments; maintain and repair fire, alarm, test electrical equipment for safety and efficiency to BS7671:2008
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Inspect, maintain repair and overhaul electromechanical and solid state electrical equipment, using a variety of electrical test equipment, meters, powered and non-powered tools and equipment.
• Carry out electrical work in residential, office and workshop buildings, including consumer unit changes, electrical rewires, wiring upgrades, minor works repairs and fault finding,
• Install new electrical and electronic equipment and electrical wiring according to Wiring Regulations and FCDO electrical standards.
• Carry out periodic inspection, testing, and completing of the necessary test certification in accordance with FCDO Regulations. Also to complete other electrical certification where required.
• To undertake testing of all portable and fixed electrical equipment (PAT Testing).
• Carry out and complete all works to high quality, in a competent manner
• Maintain and repair electrical and electronic systems for Project facilities and equipment.
• Troubleshoots repairs and maintains electrical distribution systems including electric motors, electric.
• Ensures compound/residence fire alarms and emergency electrical systems are operational; performs certification testing on alarm system.
• Comply with and practice proper equipment clearance procedures.
• Perform all work in compliance with applicable codes, standards, safety and environment regulations.
• Supervise maintenance of stand by generators keep records on log books.
• Assist Estates manager to Prepare orders of supplies electrical materials.
• Liaise with Eth. Electric Power Company as required.
• To carry out any other tasks or instructions given by the line manager.
• Monitors work done by outside contractors for adherence to FCDO Requirements and reports back to line manager/ TWS.
• Work safely and cooperatively with co-workers and the public.
• Lead a work party in performing maintenance or repair work.
• To liaise with other staff and contractors as necessary to ensure the timely completion of works within agreed contract.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience
• Baccalaureate level with a Certificate in Electricity with proven working experience
• Language Proficiency : French and English
Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
• Technical skills in civil works
• Driving Licence
