Save the Children UK is looking for an experienced, dynamic and motivated individual to join us as Senior Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Adviser, working closely with the Director of Evidence and Learning, to help us realise our aim of making all our programme and advocacy work more evidence-driven.

You will be joining a movement committed to learn about, measure and do what works for children. Evidence and research are at the heart of our ambitious efforts to address children’s rights, through innovating, delivering at scale, influencing and working in partnership. Save the Children UK’s Global Programmes department delivers humanitarian and development programmes, builds partnerships with institutional donors – including governments, multi-laterals and trusts – and drives lasting change. Our Policy, Advocacy and Campaigns department uses programme and other evidence to drive impact mainly through policy change. We also work closely with colleagues in the Save the Children movement on global systems, standards and initiatives.

As Senior MEAL Adviser you will play a key role within Save the Children UK and supporting the wider movement to generate and ensure the use of high quality, strategically relevant, ethical and timely evidence to drive continuous improvement in our work. You will provide technical leadership on MEAL, including on global standards and quality assurance, and supporting the professional development of MEAL staff. You will support the strengthening of our learning culture and help us to maximise the value we derive from our knowledge and experience of working with and for children. You will work with a range of stakeholders in SCUK, SC member organisations and Save the Children International (SCI) across multiple programmes and countries.

To be successful you will have a postgraduate qualification in a relevant area and have a strong understanding of a range of methods for research and evaluation, including quantitative methods. You must be curious and analytical and driven by a desire for continuous improvement of our impact. Your MEAL experience should include work at project level, and on organisational MEAL systems and strategy. You must be able to work and communicate well with a range of technical and non-technical colleagues and peers. international development projects. The postholder will be expected to travel – at times to remote and insecure locations – for up to 6 weeks in total per year.
