Eligibility criteria
Candidate age: between 18 and 29 throughout the entire duration of their assignment. Nationals of the country of assignment are not eligible, except the assignments in Headquarters duty stations.
Description of task
Under the direct supervision of the Law Enforcement Senior Regional Advisor, the International UN Youth Volunteer will:
• Contribute to the review of existing literature on the issue of pharmaceutical trafficking.
• Contribute to the analysis of the needs of the States in order to combat pharmaceutical trafficking.
• Contribute to the organization of outreach encounters on both logistical and substantive aspects.
• Assist in the development and implementation of outreach programmes (in collaboration with other partners) to support community, faith-based and other organizations to understand the risks in the distribution and use of falsified medical products.
• Support legislative reform processes with legislative assistance workshops by using the recently published UNODC guide on Good Legislative Practices to Combatting Falsified Medical Product-Related Crime.
• Enhance coordination among national enforcement and regulatory authorities to combat falsified medical products related to crime through the organization of coordination meetings to share intelligence on the trafficking of falsified medical products.
• Organize, participate in and provide substantive input to capacity-building meetings.
• Prepare various written outputs, e.g. background documentation, talking points, proposals, concept notes, analysis, reports, inputs to publications, etc.;
• Participate in the monitoring and evaluation of the project.
• Ensure coordination and coherence in the delivery of the project.
• Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications/Requirements
Required degree level: Master degree or equivalent
Required experience: 12 Months
Experience remark:
One years of relevant work experience in international affairs in the areas of programme management/coordination, research/analysis, administrative assistance and communication, preferably in the area of law enforcement and criminal justice
Demonstrated interest in the theme of combatting falsified medical product related crime and protecting public health.
Working experience (including internship) with the United Nations system is a distinct advantage.
Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture, (i.e. studies, volunteer work, internship) would be highly regarded;
Prior experience in West Africa is also a distinct advantage.
