Après s’être frotté le genou et avoir fait travailler sa jambe sur le terrain, Messi a signalé au banc qu’il pouvait continuer, mais Pochettino a choisi de ne pas prendre de risque étant donné le calendrier chargé du PSG. « Tout le monde sait que nous avons de grands joueurs dans l’équipe, mais nous avons 35 joueurs. Mais nous devons prendre des décisions pour le bien de l’équipe. Parfois les joueurs sont d’accord et parfois non. Nous en avons parlé et je lui ai demandé comment il allait, et il a dit qu’il allait bien », a déclaré Pochettino en conférence de presse d’après-match.
Messi aurait passé la séance d’entraînement de lundi à recevoir des soins. Le PSG a une semaine chargée avec un déplacement à Metz mercredi et un match le week-end contre Montpellier, avant le choc de mardi prochain en Ligue des champions contre Manchester City.
Lionel Messi est toujours à la recherche de son premier but depuis qu’il a rejoint le PSG en transfert gratuit de Barcelone cet été. Messi est passé tout près à la 37e minute, lorsque son coup franc de 30 mètres a dévié sur le but et a heurté la barre transversale, à la grande consternation des fans du PSG qui regardaient la star argentine faire ses débuts à domicile.
