Job Title: Disaster Response Manager (DRM)
Location: Brussels Headquarters, with regular travel to Mission East field offices and readiness for short-term deployment for disaster responses in new locations.

Reporting to: Director of Operations with coordination with Quality & Learning Manager

The DRM is a key role in Mission East’s Operations Team in Brussels and works within our Quality, Learning and Development Team. This team provides cross-cutting support to all programme managers, country teams and partners, striving for continuous improvement across the organisation. The Disaster Response Manager will play a critical role in promoting excellence in disaster response and security processes. The Disaster Response Manager will be responsible for developing and maintaining Mission East’s capacity to engage in disaster responses, providing surge capacity for new responses, and supporting effective security systems across the organisation.

Experience / Training
The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record of working in the relief and development in the NGO sector. With a Master’s level degree in a relevant field, you will also bring demonstrable field experience in humanitarian responses. We’re looking for someone with experience in medium to high security contexts and who has also developed or worked with disaster response and security systems. Flexible, able to thrive on a variety of tasks and in fast-changing environments, you’ll display an awareness of humanitarian quality standards (Core Humanitarian Standard, SPHERE, Red Cross Code of Conduct, and others) and will have sympathy with Mission East’s organisational values.
Salary and indemnities to be agreed upon.
Conditions as per Belgium regulations.
Duration: permanent contract, full time – 80% can be discussed.
