DescriptionDoctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières, MSF), an international humanitarian medical association created in 1971, provides medical assistance to populations in need: most often in the case of armed conflict, but also during epidemics, natural disasters and those excluded from care. Psychiatrists and psychologists perform a variety of tasks with MSF, depending on the project and the context: within a hospital program, psychiatric consultations, addressing specific trauma (armed conflicts, sexual violence), certain illnesses (AIDS, TB) and/or treating minors.

Psychiatrists collaborate with MSF health personnel to promote the integration of psychiatric care as part of our primary and secondary health services. The activity includes clinical work, as well as managing and training national staff. The ability to work in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary team is a must. 2. Organize and participate in group therapy sessions.
  3. Provide support to the project and the team by sharing ideas on how to improve our care, in accordance with MSF’s strategy and objectives.
    – Oversee the diagnosing and treating of mental health illnesses according to MSF guidelines.
  4. Identify the training needs of the staff and organize workshops to improve their practice.
  5. Ensure that MSF guidelines and medical treatments (psychotropic drugs listed in standard MSF guidelines), are available.
  6. Ensure that the necessary information is collected and made available to provide adequate treatment of the patient.
