Organizational Setting
 The Regional Office for RNE is responsible for leading FAO’s response to regional priorities for food security, agriculture and rural development through the identification, planning and implementation of FAO’s priority activities in the region. It ensures a multidisciplinary approach to programmes, identifies priority areas of action for the Organization in the Region and, in collaboration with departments and divisions at Headquarters, develops, promotes and oversees FAO’s strategic response to regional priorities.
RNE also advises on the incorporation of regional priorities into the Organization’s Programme of Work and Budget and implements approved programmes and projects in the region, monitors the level of programme implementation and draws attention to problems and deficiencies. RNE develops and maintains relations with region-wide institutions including the Regional Economic Integration Organizations (REIOs).
The Regional Office supports regional policy dialogue on food security, agriculture and rural development issues, facilitates the emergence of regional partnerships, and supports capacity development and resource mobilization for food security, agriculture and rural development in the region.
Reporting Lines
 The incumbent will work under the general supervision of Senior Policy Officer and the direct supervision of RNE Regional Statistician, in collaboration with RNE Policy Team.

Tasks and responsibilities
Retrieve, organize, select and analyse data from a wide variety of international data sources, including FAOSTAT.
Contribute to the production of sets of tables, graphs and charts, data interpretation, in support to RNE publications, papers and presentations as requested.
Review RNE publications, papers and presentations for data accuracy and gaps.
Develop and manage a simple and effective system for organization, extraction and graphical representation of data and indicators for countries relevant to RNE work
Perform any other related duties as assigned by the supervisor and Policy Team.
  CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
Advanced degree in statistics, economics, environment or related subjects. Experience in agriculture statistics, agriculture economics or econometrics would be an asset.
At least 3 years of experience in data analysis.
Working knowledge of English, both spoken and written
National of Egypt or resident in the country with a regular work permit.

Extent and relevance of experience in quantitative data analysis, particularly in agriculture and food security.
Extent and relevance of experience using Microsoft Office tools of Excel and Access to an advanced level.  Experience with other statistical software would be an asset.
Extent of knowledge of international data sources containing agriculture, food security and nutrition data, including FAOSTAT.
Ability to work to under pressure and deliver to tight deadlines.
Teamwork spirit, communication, results focus, ability to work under minimum supervision, flexibility.
Knowledge sharing and continuous improvement; building effective relationships.
