European Commission CFPs: Supporting National or Transnational Projects on Non-discrimination and Roma Integration

Deadline: 9 October 2018

European Commission is inviting proposals for its Grant program entitled “Support National or Transnational Projects on Non-discrimination and Roma Integration” to co-fund national or transnational projects tackling at least one of the following grounds of discrimination of Art. 19 TFEU: racial or ethnic origin, religion or belief, disability, age or sexual orientation.

Aims

  • Fighting against discrimination based on sexual orientation in society and promoting the rights of LGBTI people.
  • Promoting diversity management in the public and private sector: identification of existing practices, measurement of diversity management benefits, and awareness-raising. The proposed activities may be linked to the launch and implementation of Diversity Charters.
  • Fighting against anti-gypsyism and various forms of discrimination of Roma – including spatial and schooling segregation, discrimination in (access to) employment and housing, forced evictions – through activities aiming to raise awareness and combat harmful stereotypes of Roma and thereby supporting their integration into mainstream society. Empowering Roma youth, women and children and promoting their participation in developing, implementing and monitoring policies affecting them. Supporting capacity building of Roma and pro-Roma civil society active at the local level.
  • Fighting against discrimination based on race and/or ethnic origin (excluding hate speech): through activities contributing to the enforcement and effective implementation of Union law and policy, such as victims’ interest representation, independent monitoring and reporting.

Activities

This call will fund activities on:

  • data collection and survey; monitoring the implementation of non-discrimination legislation;
  • training of professionals;
  • mutual learning, exchange of good practices, cooperation, including identifying best practices which may be transferable to other participating countries;
  • dissemination and awareness raising activities (including at local level), such as seminars, conferences, campaigns or social media and press activities;
  • victims’ interest representation, independent monitoring and reporting;
  • capacity building and empowerment.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The Member States (MS) of the European Union (EU), including their overseas departments, Iceland and Liechtenstein.
  • Proposals from applicants in candidate or associated countries may be selected provided that, on the date of award, agreements have entered into force setting out the arrangements for the participation of those countries in the programme.
  • Should a candidate or associated country join the programme during the call process, a notification will be posted on the Participant Portal.
  • Eligibility of the applicant and partners (lead applicant and co-applicant(s))
    • The applicant and partners must be public entities or private organisations, duly established in one of the countries participating in the programme, or international organisations. Organisations which are profit-oriented must submit applications in partnership with public entities or private non-profit organisations.
    • Note: Under the REC and Justice programmes, entities affiliated to a beneficiary are not considered as project participants. Their costs are not eligible.
  • Eligibility of the application
    • The project can be either national or transnational;
    • The application must involve at least two organisations (applicant and partner);
    • The EU grant applied for cannot be lower than € 100 000 or higher than € 250 000.
