Eligible Projects

To be eligible the project must:

Involve work on a heritage item or a contributory building within a heritage conservation area as identified within the Canada Bay Local Environmental Plan 2013 and Canada Bay Development Control Plan.
Written minor works approval must have been obtained for the work. (A copy of the minor works approval letter must be included with the application.)
Applications should be made for work carried out in the last year (i.e. in the year prior to the date the application is submitted).
Work must be undertaken by a tradesperson. Grants are not provided for time worked on a project by the applicant or for goods purchased by the applicant.
Works that contribute to the presentation of a heritage item to the general public will be given priority.
Council will require evidence in the form of paid tax invoices and photographs that the work has been carried out and paid for, and of the final cost of the work.
The cost of the work of a single nature cannot be split between separate grant applications made in successive years (Examples: Tuckpointing of the front façade would be considered a single nature project, however painting of the windows of the front façade of the same house would be work of a separate nature and so a grant application for this work could be made in a successive year.)
Council will require evidence that the cost of the work represents good value for money. More than one quote should be sought for the work if possible. Work needs to be carried out to a high standard and in accordance with good conservation practice, preferably by tradespersons experienced in conservation work.
