The Head of IT is responsible for all IT relevant issues in the region, including strategizing, planning, building and running of all IT components. This position reports directly in to the CEO: Africa.
Contributes (develops, implements, evolves) regional Information Technology and Information Security strategy as integral part of overall group business strategy.
Leads IT objective creation process in group business units to meet key performance indicators, controls progress.
Provides sustainable information infrastructure and tools to the business functions, by maintaining acceptable Infrastructure and end user service levels
Effective service and infrastructure life cycle management meet service level agreements and provide change management controls.
Ensure the delivery of required services regarding IT operations, the development of new service products,
IT guidance for the business and the creation of company-wide IT synergies to realize maximum advantage of IT business support
Ensure IT continuity, resilience, compliance and security to safeguard assets and minimize risks.
Advise senior management proactively on IT opportunities and risks in order to stimulate synergy and efficiency in IT related decisions and to achieve maximum results on IT
Procurement of IT requirements in line with corporate procurement strategy and guidelines, resulting in a cost-effective availability of all IT requirements and manage external vendors
Timeous reporting, identify key performance indicators and services, create mechanisms for reporting to regional management on a monthly basis.
Manages delivery of demand and projects portfolio to ensure smooth operation,
Addresses information security requirements and asset/data protection measures
Oversee supplier relations within the IT function
Manage the technical consultants – scope of work, selection and management of their work
Ensure achievement of financial objectives (adherence to regional and central budget targets)
Plan and control the infrastructure budgets
Take corrective actions when necessary and provide adequate reporting to ensure the department delivers its budget and meets
Owns IT Operative planning & budget
Provide leadership in the ongoing IT organization, developing its structure
Manage and develop the department in line with corporate guidelines, in order to be equipped for current and future business challenges.
Implement definition of roles & responsibilities and ensure continual optimization thereof
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
Tertiary qualification, preferably in Information Technology.
Master’s degree in Information Technology or Business administration
Minimum ten (10) years IT infrastructure management, with strong hands on exposure;
Broad and proven experience in senior IT management roles within companies of a size and complexity similar to the Company (large multinational organization)
Relevant experience in IT project management, planning and implementation of IT infrastructures and developed understanding of IT success drivers.
Strong business acumen related to mining industry applications and business processes
Ability to implement change across the organization as well as to lead, coach and mentor staff internationally and in different cultures
Strong understanding of IT infrastructure components (active directory, messaging, networking, firewalls, security, cloud), with technical exposure to VmWare, Netbackup, Blades and UCS, NetApp, IronPort, Macfee & Checkpoint
Expertise in data Centre management and data governance
