Job Description:

 One of our clients, a well-known mining house is currently seeking a Buyer to join their team at their head office in Southern Africa. If you have a history in the mining or consulting industry and a proven track record as a Buyer, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

Responsibilities:

  Place purchase orders with approved vendors for materials, machinery, equipment, tools, parts, and a full spectrum of other supplies or services at assigned site.

Source new vendors if needed.

Review a wide variety of requisitions.

May support one or more specialized areas requiring an increased depth of knowledge.

Estimate mark ups according to knowledge of market price.

Review bid proposals from vendors and recommend or enter into contracts within limits of delegated authority.

Maintain records of purchased items, cost, delivery, performance and inventory, and approves bills for payment.

Discusses defects with quality control/inspection personnel.

Possess excellent organizational skills.

Possess experience in mine closures and greenfield and brown field project environments.

Embrace a continuous improvement and knowledge management philosophy.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

  Bachelor of Science degree in supply chain management, logistics or business administration.

Additional qualifications in business administration (an advantage).

Strong general administration capabilities.

Member of SAPICS will be an advantage.

3-5 years buying experience at a multinational organization.

Mining or consulting industry background.

Hands on experience in multinational financial transactions.

Experience operating within a shared services function.
